by Marjolaine Ryley. Daylight Books, 2013.

"Less of a traditional monograph and more of an intense delving into an autobiographical exploration, Growing Up in the New Age uses photography, archival snapshots, and accounts from several writers (including Ryley's parents, who separated during the author's childhood) to explore specific 'alternative' utopias in London and the South of France in the 1970s.
Both intensely personal and anthropological in tone, Ryley produces, collects and presents her findings in an initially mysterious but well-edited story. This story both questions and affirms these 'New Age' ideologies and the social and educational experiments of this time. I love both the content and creative approach used to structure the story." —Laura Moya
