509, by Pamela Pecchio. Published by Daniel 13 Press, 2010. |
The book
509 is an homage to one mother's home, but going beyond the concept of a "vanity book," the images reflect not just the contents of a quiet Southern home, but resonate with all who view home as a place of comfort. It is a study of home as place, home as sanctuary. The items captured in the book are individualized and selected by one or more people from a family, but speak to the quaint qualities that most Americans relate to -- brightly colored shag carpet, floral wall paper, encyclopedias in the library, the collection of refrigerator magnets. This modest slipcased limited edition is also available accompanied by one of the two prints shown below.
Printed by Dave Wofford of Horse & Buggy Press (the same press who produced two of Rob McDonald's books -- Birdhouses and Poplar Forest), 509 features Indigo full color printing on 100lb New Leaf Reincarnation Matte paper, a 100% recycled text sheet that contains 50% post-consumer content. It is full cloth, flat back case-bound with silver foil stamp on the front cover. All 100 copies are slipcased and signed by Pamela Pecchio, Dave Wofford and Jefferson Holt and numbered by Pecchio in pencil. Books accompanied by prints come in an 8x10" print box. The prints are approximately a 5x6.25" image on 7.5x9 in a folio. There are 10 of each print.
