"Early summer in 1978, Moriyama stayed in Hokkaido, in the northern part of Japan, for three months renting a room at apartment. At that period, he took so many photographs. Such huge number of just developed negative films have not printed for about 30 years until this year.
Once, my mind is filled with many towns in Hokkaido. I wonder where the beating when I was crossing in the Tsugaru strait is gone even now. Thirteen years ago, some editor suggested me to publish the photographs then. Three years ago, the publisher was decided. And now, the book is realized. —Daido Moriyama"—from the publisher
