Christopher J Johnson selects The Encyclopedia of Kurt Caviezel by Kurt Caviezel from Rorhof as Book of the Week.
The stifling amount of images might easily overwhelm in normal circumstances, but Caviezel's encyclopedic presentation presents the information in a comfortable and familiar mode that, by offering sections with concrete subjects like: Automobile, Animal, Ass – relegates the plethora of images to the compartmentalized presentation of an index or list or thesaurus making an otherwise potentially overwhelming experience comfortable and opening it up for the comical.
It is quite comical, in fact. The subject lines for sections can be applied to each image in its taxonomy and the general effect is something like a single frame newspaper cartoon; an image, a caption, a laugh. It is with a great sense of humor and no lack of tasteful, but familiar book design that The Encyclopdia of Kurt Caviezel easily captures one's attention: it is a litany of the absurd, the human and the natural."—Christopher J Johnson
