photo-eye Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of our next exhibition, Storms by Mitch Dobrowner. The exhibition celebrates Dobrowner's forthcoming book from Aperture, Storms, due in September 2013.

For the past few years, Mitch Dobrowner has been chasing larger-than-life storms across America, making surreal black & white photographs of their magnificent power. He describes himself as "part landscape photographer, part sports photographer" because of the constantly changing conditions of photographing in the face of such storms, conditions that require swift movement and a keen eye. Dobrowner's stunning images bear witness to Mother Nature's double-edged sword: one of destruction as well as cultivation.

Mitch Dobrowner's photographs have been exhibited both nationally and internationally and featured in National Geographic, Intelligent Life Magazine, Los Angeles Times as well as many other publications. He has received numerous awards from the Lucie Foundation as well as Photolucida's Critical Mass, Sony World Photo Awards, PX3, and his work is in the collections of the Portland Art Museum, Santa Barbara Museum of Art, Lishui Museum of Photography in China, and Houston Museum of Fine Art.
