Inventory Finds!

We recently did inventory here at photo-eye, and were pleasantly surprised to find a few copies of books that we previously thought to be sold out hidden in the shelves. All books are available in very limited quantities.

A Road Trip Journal -- Stephen Shore

Published by Phaidon in 2008, A Road Trip Journal by Stephen Shore is a beautiful volume documenting Shore's 1973 trip across the United States. His journey is preserved not only in unreleased photographs from the trip, but also in itineraries, journal entities receipts and notes. Displayed here as a reproduced scrapbook, this signed and numbered slipcased limited edition brings together the entire collection of images for the first time.

Furniture Bondage -- Melanie Bonajo

Selected by Erik van der Weijde as a Best Book of 2009, Furniture Bondage by Melanie Bonajo is a series of strange photographs depicting nude female models physically encumbered by everyday objects, chairs, fans, ironing boards, lamps and much more, literally bound to the human form. Bonajo’s images explore the difficult relationships between humans and the objects that surround us, fill our lives and sometimes overwhelm us. Signed copies available.

The Company of Strangers -- Gus Powell

Inspired by Frank O'Hara's Lunch Poems, Gus Powell spent several years photographing the streets of midtown Manhattan during his lunch hour, making his own photographic poetry. Published as The Company of Strangers from J&L Books, Powell's photographs are documents of his keen observation and eye for composition. Signed copies available.

The book’s size and the quietness of the images makes for a intimate viewing experience. La Residence -- JH Engström

La Residence by JH Engström features photographs made during two stays in Brussels. The book was selected by Melanie McWhorter as a Best Book of 2010:

“This book contains diary excerpts of JH Engstrom printed in three languages. The many parallel folds are a nice feature to hide part of the sequence of images allowing the reader to first take in quotes like ‘These pictures may be an account of my failure to depict photographically a place I didn't go to for private reasons.’” -- Melanie McWhorter
