Reuben Wu, XT1940, Archival Pigment Print, 15 x 20 inches, Edition of 10, $950 |
For visual artists, dedication to one’s creative craft is of the utmost importance. In Reuben Wu’s case, that dedication goes above and beyond the norm. The lengths to which he must go to create his stylistically precise, technically complex photographs are often extensive, physically laborious, and time-consuming. Carefully designing and composing images in sketches and prep-work, traveling thousands of miles, scrupulously and ethically scouting remote locations, hauling extensive technology and gear across vast wilderness, dealing with extreme weather conditions, and patiently working long hours to capture each image with his particular long-exposure technique are all important parts of Wu’s process. The resulting images are impressive feats of technology and reveal Wu's commitment to the conceptual framework behind each piece.
