Benefit Prints Available for a Limited Time!

Whether you're somebody that loves to listen to Morning Edition with their first cup of coffee or (tries) just to check in via the 6 o'clock news at the end of the day, news of the devastating fires sweeping northern New Mexico has become impossible to avoid.

Thousands of human and animal residents have already been displaced, and in the spirit of community aid, photo-eye Showcase artists Carl Moore and Patricia Galagan have partnered to produce an open edition of prints with all proceeds going to organizations benefitting fire relief efforts.

Read the artists' statement for the series, Seeing Through Fire and check out the images below!

All images included in this post are available in an open edition for one month, from May 28–July 1, 2022.

All prints are on 11x14" paper and cost $125 (+ Shipping)

A percentage of the proceeds will be split between Santa Fe Food Depot's Disaster Relief Fund and the Santa Fe Humane Society's efforts in providing aid to evacuated animals.

New Mexico’s 2022 fire season began early and aggressively. Abetted by ferocious winds and the most prolonged drought in 1200 years, more than 20 wildfires are burning in New Mexico. In just a few weeks, wildfires have destroyed billions of trees, displaced thousands of people and animals, and taken lives. Smoke and ash billow over our mountains, color our sunsets, and slip into every breath we take.

Unable to look away, photographers Carl Moore and Patricia Galagan, are making daily images of the three largest fires near Santa Fe: the Cero Pelado in the Jemez mountains, and the Hermits Peak and Calf Canyon fire in the Sangre de Cristo mountains.

Carl Moore is a fine art photographer based in Santa Fe, NM. He's a retired facilitator and educator who has been photographing seriously since 2008, when he realized his passion for communicating through images.

Patricia Galagan is the co-author, with her late husband Philip Metcalf, of the photography book Fire Ghosts, a depiction of the effects of New Mexico’s 2011 Los Conchas fire. Her photographs concern the visible effects of climate change in the landscape.
